Welcome to my blog: I'm new to these things so you'll have to bear with me. I am a London based music student/performer/teacher. This blog is mainly a place for me to vent the good, the bad and the ugly of London student life, and I suppose in time to come the life of a struggling (is there any other sort) freelance classical musician.
I am (in the words of one of my flatmates) "somewhat sedentary" hence the name "infrequent jogger" however i resent this statement (:-p) if you put into context the fact that he plays squash several times a week, is incapable of doing anything but sprint up and down any set of stairs, cannot sit still for more than a minute and runs around like he has a rocket up his arse all day long, then you may realise that his view of sedentary and the normal view of sedentary is somewhat different. OK, so when faced with the choice between a run in the park or my lovely comfy bed and a book it would be the latter every time, but does this make me sedentary or just normal?? However, I do have occasional bouts of conscience for my physical well-being, take up my running shoes and commit to the grueling slog up the hill to our local park, with a pit stop at the swings which I assure you is done because it is highly beneficial anaerobic (or is it aerobic?) exercise and not just because it's fun, followed by a jog around the perimeter of the rest of the park interspersed with purposefully paced power-walking (note alliterative pun [and if you can say that after ten pints.....]) to then head back home praising whichever deity feels appropriate at the the time that the park is at the top of a hill only to reach the final destination of home and curse said deity that i live at the top of the flat, up two flights of stairs. After finally crawling up to my room I will flop down onto my beautiful bed and reaffirm my deeply held belief that voluntary exercises is not for the faint hearted, the slightly unfit or semi-sedentary, but rather for the obsessive compulsive type, who has more spare time on their hands than is good for them and a sadly contracted professional and social life.
As you will probably have surmised from my name and this post i am not a voluntary exerciser, recently however i have been coerced by the aforementioned flatmate into joining our conservatoire's newly formed (by him) squash club, depending on one's point of view (and also depending on being in full possession of the facts [and/or the clubs membership list]) i could be very proud to be ranked 6th or very disappointed at being the bottom of six members. Be assured that i shall keep you all up to date regarding my very gradually acquired sporting prowess.
When not practising (ha! another pun: how sad!) the art of music, I enjoy cooking for both myself and my friends, and attending to the needs of my beloved Dexter, aka my Honda CBR125R (for those uninformed in the world of bike this is a motorbike)
So for now it is au-revoir until life's excitements spill over and need to be shared with the world at large again.......

Hang on, I'm sorry, is this the same one who couldn't be got out of bed in Norway last year, even with the threat of a very cold bucket of water. And yes, I'd whip his a**e at squash too...

I too welcome you to the land of blogs. It has taken up more time than you can imagine and the house work goes hang. However its a great way to keep in touch with one's family and their friends. How, I ask do you put up with the restless tarantula owning flatmate? I salute you. Good luck with everything.

Mum of London Son.

Yes, the spirit of blogging is such that less than one blog a week is inexcusable. Do you a) have such a boring life that nothing ever happens, or b) such an exciting life that everything happens and you have no time? BTW, tell you hyperactive spider loving flatmate to get on and write some more: the same applies to him.
